For those of you who do not know, I am expecting a little one. Sincere apologies for lack of updates. I am starting to feel better lately, so I hope to start painting again soon. And don't worry. I am strictly using acrylic (which is safe for my little bun in the oven).

For me, art is a form of therapy, release and relaxation. I like to take the moments I am composing a piece to escape from the world temporarily.

I find the subject of trees almost every time appearing in my work, on purpose and accidental. Trees symbolize many things for me: freedom, growth, beauty, strength, memories, wisdom, life, awe of nature, and the list continues to grow.

**Karlee Mannix graduated from the University of Iowa in 2006 where she studied art and received her Bachelor’s Degree.

Trees represent many things for me as well as a lovely calm - sometimes I see loneliness, happiness, wisdom, isolation, beauty...it all depends on the context. I love how versatile they can be.
